PHOTOGRAPHY

We were visiting my father's brother in Conneaut, Ohio, when my parents first presented me with a camera, an Instamatic. There were no technical details of loading film. You simply dropped a film cartridge into the camera and started shooting.

I remember going for a walk downtown-if you could call it that-on an overcast morning and trying to take artistic photos. I wanted to capture the small town ambience on film. The camera was very limited, but the seed was planted in my heart. Only my mom, a devoted painter, recognized what I was trying to do. My brother wanted to know why he wasn't in the photos. My dad probably made no comment. It didn't matter; I was hooked.

Thank you, Betsy, for all you have done for me and the staff and students at Clark Intermediate.

Today's task was to crop the RAW photos in a 1:1 ratio. These were shot around noon, so the lighting was good from just about any angle. All of the shots are from the complex where I live, which has plenty of subject matter if flowers interest you.

Enjoy the site!
