Oreos?

Watching retro, or nostalgic, television the other day, as I am often prone more and more and more to do the older I grow each day, I was watching one of my all-time favorite shows, Leave It to Beaver. The scene that commanded this blog had very little to do with the plot, but it was a rare scene at the kitchen table with just June and Wally. They were enjoying lunch, each with a healthy looking sandwich, but what I noticed was plate of cookies June put out for dessert. I f you recall, and definitely part of its charm, was the show was never filmed in color. However, even in black and white, you could clearly discern that that the cookies were oreos. Black shells for the outside sandwich and vanilla white frosting in between.

I of course had to get over the shock that June was serving store-bought cookies, as she was the prototypical housewife and mother. So was my mom, but sometimes you just can’t beat the simple oreo. Ironically, that same day I came across this headline teaser on the internet. I remember when they doubled the filling, and I was fine with that. I recall when they dipped then in chocolate and I was really good with that. Then they made the cookie shells vanilla, and I started questioning tampering with success. I tried them, but only once. To me, they weren’t oreos. However, I never anticipated these recent developments. Thank goodness I wasn’t aware of them.

Oreos Get Fruitier With New Limeade Flavor and More

Oreo’s new limeade flavor is the latest of the fruity trend building within the Nabisco cookie’s lineup. The limeade flavor joins watermelon, lemon, and berry versions of “milk’s favorite cookie”

I love limeade and just the flavor of lime drinks, but between vanilla wafers? Come on! Seriously! Okay—I’m slightly curious. Laugh!
